Music
At Wath Victoria Primary School, we believe that a high-quality music education is essential for all pupils. Our music curriculum, which utilises the Charanga and Rotherham Music Service resources, is designed to provide a well-rounded and progressive learning experience that aligns with the requirements of the National Curriculum.

The Charanga programme is used in Foundation Stage through Lower Key Stage 2 to develop pupils' foundational musical skills, including the use of musical instruments, understanding of musical elements, and the ability to perform and compose. This approach ensures that pupils build a solid musical foundation, which is then further developed in Upper Key Stage 2 through the Rotherham Music Service .

Both programmes focus on developing pupils' skills in reading music, playing musical instruments, and exploring a range of musical genres and composers. This progressive approach allows pupils to deepen their understanding of music and apply their knowledge in increasingly complex ways.

The inclusion of a monthly focus on composers and a weekly singing assembly further enhances the music curriculum, exposing pupils to a diverse range of musical styles and traditions. This aligns with the school's vision of providing a broad and balanced curriculum that supports the development of well-rounded individuals.
